Alzheimer’s Buddies at Kansas State University is an undergraduate student organization that seeks to improve the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s Disease in local institutional settings and strives to increase Alzheimer’s awareness in the community. The long-term project consists of weekly meetings between students paired with local Alzheimer’s patients to create strong and significant relationships. Student volunteers visit their buddy–a person diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease–for one hour per week during the academic school year with the goal of developing a one-on-one relationship with their buddy to help to reduce the loneliness that is rampant for those living with Alzheimer’s disease in institutional settings. Alzheimer’s Buddies chapters uphold the National Alzheimer’s Buddies (NAB) name and follow the policies, procedures, and organizational structure set forth by the original chapter, Harvard College Alzheimer’s Buddies. NAB will help schools establish a chapter and provide support by supplying a manual, training materials, and guidance. Our collective goal is to spread awareness for Alzheimer’s disease and to make a difference in the Alzheimer’s community.

To promote excellence in engineering education by applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills to design, fabricate, and compete with a steel bridge at the ASCE Society-Wide Steel Bridge competition.

Being part of the Steel Bridge Team offers a valuable learning experience that can benefit members in both their academic and professional careers.

Members gain hands-on experience in designing steel structures, applying principles of statics, mechanics, and materials science. Team members learn practical skills in fabrication techniques, welding, and construction methods. Members develop project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating team efforts. All members also can go to regionals each spring and compete in the Steel Bridge Competition.

Participating in the competition provides opportunities to network with other engineering members and professionals in the industry. Wildcats Forever
SAB provides leadership and support for Wildcats Forever, the K-State Student Alumni Association. SAB helps promote the program and coordinates events and benefits for one of the largest student groups on the K-State campus.

Grad Bash and Grad Breakfast
Each year, SAB hosts graduating students at Grad Breakfast in December and Grad Bash in May. These events provide an opportunity to inform graduating students about the benefits of membership in the K-State Alumni Association. The event features free food and drinks, live music and prizes for drawings.

Wildcat Welcome Day
SAB helps the Alumni Association welcome new students to campus each fall. New K-Staters can stop by the Alumni Center for free ice cream and to learn about the Association's student programs.

Distinguished Young Alumni Award
The Distinguished Young Alumni program recognizes two Kansas State University graduates who are excelling in their professions and contributing to their communities. Nominations are welcomed by anyone in the Kansas State University community. Learn more about the Distinguished Young Alumni Awards.

Hosting alumni
SAB assists the Alumni Association with alumni visiting campus by guiding campus tours and answering questions about K-State.

K-State Alumni Hours
SAB members serve as ambassadors for the K-State Alumni Association and the Alumni Center. Members have one office hour per week during their first year on SAB. During this time they assist the Association with its programs.

University Lounge Hosts
SAB members have the opportunity to host special guests in the University Lounge at home football games.

Asian American Student Union (AASU) was founded by Jason Ly in the year of 1991. Ly felt that the Asian population of K-State needed a strong voice to convey to the community. The purpose of this organization is to foster unity and support for all Asian and Asian-American students on campus; to provide awareness of Asian cultures to Kansas State University faculty, administrators, students and community; to provide a means by which Asian and Asian-American students can become more visible to the Kansas State University community; and to create an atmosphere that promotes and teaches the equality of diverse people.
