About Us
Founded in 1997, Powercat Motorsports has proudly represented Kansas State University in the Formula SAE Series for over two decades. As one of over 600 teams competing in the world’s largest collegiate engineering competition, we take pride in designing, building, testing, and competing a fully functional, open-wheel, open-cockpit racecar each year.
While we are housed in the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department, our team brings together students from across campus to tackle real-world challenges. Powercat Motorsports embraces cutting-edge technologies often seen in professional motorsports, including a full carbon fiber monocoque chassis, integrated aerodynamic packages, custom CNC-machined components, a pneumatic paddle shift system, and wireless data acquisition for live telemetry.
With a legacy rooted in determination and technical excellence, we continue to push boundaries and raise the standard in every aspect of vehicle development.
