A Night Market showcases a vibrant Asian culture that is evident across the diverse Asian countries; it draws people together with lights, gathering spaces, entertainment, and food after a long day/week of hard work!

Our event shares the beautiful, rich, and broad cultures of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific
Islanders with the K-State community through entertainment, storytelling, and cuisine. There will be other cultures across the globe represented as well. Our goal is to raise awareness, curiosity, and appreciation of these diverse and unique cultures among everyone in the K-State community. With the prime location provided by the Beach Museum of Art, this Asian Night Market will tie the diverse community on the K-State campus and in the greater Manhattan area, drawing people from all backgrounds to come together and enjoy intercultural exploration.
The event also highlights our Keynote speaker, Jackie Nguyen. Through her creativity, entrepreneurship, and leadership, she created a supportive community for multicultural small business owners in the Kansas City metropolitan area as she builds her Vietnamese café business, Cafe Cà Phê, from scratch. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nguyen transitioned from working as an actor on Broadway to becoming a small business owner in Kansas City, where she opened a Vietnamese cafe. Her story is inspiring and encouraging to many as it is one of building her own dream business while also creating a community for underrepresented or underprivileged groups. Through this journey, she cultivated perseverance, empathy, and a strong cultural identity. The success of her business celebrates and embraces the diverse and unique lived experiences of all people.
