Mock Interviews offer a unique chance to connect with representatives from design, planning, and community development employers, practice your interview skills, and receive constructive feedback. Many students have landed internships and job offers through this experience.
The Mock Interviews will take place over two days in person at the Berney Family Welcome Center, with a few virtual options available.
To participate, please sign up for an interview time and submit your resume along with your portfolio or a work sample via the OneDrive link at the bottom of this email. Below, you’ll find details on how and when to register.

2025DEADLINE EXTENDED SIGN UP by - Monday, October 6th
What: APDesign Mock Interviews
Why: This is a great opportunity to practice interviewing and presenting your portfolio to employers who will offer you helpful feedback.
· Interviews will last 40 minutes - first 30 minutes for the interview, with the last 10 minutes left for critique/feedback.
When: Monday, October 13th AND Tuesday, October 14th , 2025
Where: Berney Family Welcome Center
Who: View the list of participating firms on Handshake
How: Please register through Handshake as soon as possible to secure your spot with your preferred firm!
- Click on the "Jobs" tab near the upper left side of your Handshake account
- Click on “Kansas State Collections” at the top of the page
- Select "2025 APD Mock Interviews" — you’ll see every “job” posted, but please pay attention to the discipline codes on each job—only apply to the ones in your major
- Find interviews (mock jobs) with firms in your discipline
- Click the red "apply" button and then sign up for an interview time with that firm
- Upload your resume and portfolio to the One Drive link below (select your discipline and then the company you are interviewing with) NO LATER THAN 9:00am on 10/07/2025. This will allow firms to view your documents before coming to campus for Mock Interviews. Upload your materials to the appropriate folder here:
NOTE: If you aren't redirected to available interview times after applying with a firm, you can go to your account in the upper right corner and select "My Jobs." Then, click on the jobs you've applied for to see the interview times.
