Relationships exist on a spectrum, and it can sometimes be difficult to tell where yours falls.
A healthy relationship is built on mutual respect, trust, open communication, and support. Both people feel safe expressing their thoughts and feelings, setting boundaries, and maintaining their independence.
An unhealthy relationship may involve patterns such as frequent conflict, jealousy, poor communication, or an imbalance of effort or decision-making. These behaviors can cause stress or discomfort and may signal a need for boundaries or support.
An abusive relationship involves a pattern of power and control. This can include emotional manipulation, isolation, intimidation, threats, sexual pressure, or physical harm. Abuse is never the survivor’s fault.
Everyone deserves relationships that feel safe, respectful, and affirming. If you or someone you know is questioning a relationship, CARE is here to provide confidential resources, education, and support.
