About Us
The purpose of this student organization is to offer an opportunity to connect with professionals who share our vision and can provide mentorship, guidance, and inspiration. Through these connections, we aim to broaden our understanding of the practice, refine our skills, and gain insights from those who have walked similar paths before us.
Founded in Spring 2025, the NAMLA Chapter at Kansas State University is a student-led group dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices in landscape architecture. We provide a space for students to connect, share experiences, and grow through mentorship, peer support, and professional development.
Inspired by the values of the National Association of Minority Landscape Architects (NAMLA), our chapter seeks to build meaningful relationships with mentors and professionals who understand the unique challenges and strengths that come with being a minority in the design field. Through community engagement, peer support, and professional development, we aim to strengthen our voices and expand our impact.
By building community and fostering meaningful relationships, we aim to reflect the diverse populations we will one day serve and contribute to a more thoughtful, inclusive design practice.
