Former K-State baseball player and current President & CEO of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, Vern Henricks, spoke at the September Student Leader Network meeting on Tuesday, September 13 in the Center for Student Involvement conference room.
Using his custom "Henricks Jeopardy" board, Vern shared his advice for student organization leaders in relation to leadership lessons he has learned in a variety of roles throughout his career, including Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Fort Hays State University, Senior Director of Development for the College of Engineering at Iowa State, and Vice President for Major Gift Programs at the KSU Foundation.
Topics discussed included advice on not sweating the small stuff, being able to take setbacks and "put them in your back pocket" to focus on growth moving forward, and feelings of loneliness as a leader, among others.
