To apply learned skills to real-world agribusiness cases
The educational and professional value these competitions provide the team members include the opportunity to apply learned skills to a real-world problem while also learning new analysis methods from fellow competitors. These competitions require participants to apply problem solving skills, communication skills, and academic knowledge on a national and international stage. Furthermore, in preparing for the competition, there is a significant amount of team building and team work involved, which prepares participants to tackle real world issues in the workplace with colleagues. Finally, both the IFAMA and AAEA competitions are held in conjunction with annual meetings for the respective organizations. This allows case study participants to network with the most active, engaged members of the agricultural economics field, which often results in career opportunities going forward.
