The personal brand of an athlete has been a very lucrative proposition for years, but with the inclusion of social media, athletes have been able expand their brand and expand their profit. The addition of new rules for amateurs, like the name, image, and likeness (NIL) licensing opportunities now afforded college student-athletes, opens the door for new ways athletes can market themselves. KSU news director and 25 year sports journalist veteran Andrew Smith and “GoPowercat.com” president and publisher Tim Fitzgerald moderate a panel of athletes - including K-State football running back Deuce Vaughn and K-State Soccer forward Marisa Weichel - and journalists as we look at the changing world of sports in the era of social media.
