What is SAE Aero?

SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers. SAE hosts multiple different student-led competitions each year, including Baja, Formula, and Aero. The competitions include both United States teams and international teams. SAE Aero pits over 30 teams against each other in a design competition to carry as much payload as possible while meeting certain design requirements.

Idea Generation

Develop ideas for the aircraft design and performance

Modeling and Testing

Create 3D models of the aircraft in SolidWorks and test ideas using wind tunnels, CFD, FEA, and physical tests

Manufacturing

Build the airplane from start to finish using manufacturing methods such as laser cutting, drilling, assembly, and more

Competition

Compete against 30+ schools from all over the world
