11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Whatever you're an expert in, there's a need for someone to champion it through content creation on social media. Join campus faculty from numerous departments and media specialists from the Sunderland Foundation Innovation Lab to explore social media content development tools and techniques.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Many of us use social media to highlight the best aspects of our lives. However, the content posted by others can influence our own expectations of what life could or should be. Consuming social media can create unrealistic expectations and the desire for perfectionism that can harm our well-being. Rather than unplugging from social media altogether, this workshop will teach you strategies to reduce stress and anxiety that arise from social media use.
*Hosted by Lafene CAPS and the Morrison Family Center for Student Well-Being
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Hear from K-State alum Cameron Banning, Team Lead - Brand Development at TikTok.
*Hosted by the A.Q. Miller School's Job Ready program.
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Join Mac Lewison, Adjunct Instructor in K-State’s National Strategic Selling Institute and retired FBI Special Agent & Hostage Negotiator, as he leads an interactive workshop called the Creative Collaboration Initiative. Mac will share his process for collaborating with individuals and organizations primarily using LinkedIn, the professional networking and career development website and mobile application. It’s through LinkedIn he has created novel projects with authors, artists, craftsman, coaches, educators, and others to advance his passion for educating people about the benefits of adopting a Negotiator’s Mindset.
In the workshop, participants will learn the brainstorming and ideation processes, streamlined outreach strategies via LinkedIn, how to develop interesting & mutually beneficial project proposals, and how to execute on these project ideas.
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Are you passionate about your future career field, a unique skill, or a long-time hobby? Do you want to be known as knowledgeable or as an expert about a particular topic (fashion, travel, food, sports, design, etc.)? Do you want to be someone that people trust and look to for advice or perspective? Maybe you've thought about sharing your expertise on social media as an influencer. In this workshop, you'll learn the building blocks to creating your own personal brand, as well as how to tell your story through content and how to build a community of followers as a social media influencer.

4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
The personal brand of an athlete has been a very lucrative proposition for years, but with the inclusion of social media, athletes have been able expand their brand and expand their profit. The addition of new rules for amateurs, like the name, image, and likeness (NIL) licensing opportunities now afforded college student-athletes, opens the door for new ways athletes can market themselves. KSU news director and 25 year sports journalist veteran Andrew Smith and “GoPowercat.com” president and publisher Tim Fitzgerald moderate a panel of athletes - including K-State football running back Deuce Vaughn and K-State Soccer forward Marisa Weichel - and journalists as we look at the changing world of sports in the era of social media.
